On December 19, 2023 Theodore “Ted” Lucky Phillips, 74, of Calabash, NC passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife of 48 years Linda Kaye Phillips at his side. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him.
Ted, the youngest of 4 children, was born on March 6, 1949 to Charles and Rose Phillips in Baltimore City, Maryland. He spent his childhood in Annapolis, MD graduating from Severna Park High School in 1967 before joining the US Army. After separating from the military he began a 46 year career with the US government. In 1975 he married Linda and later moved across the country to Yakima Valley, WA for six years where they gave birth to their three daughters; Melissa, Kristina, Kimberley. Despite family obligations, Ted’s keen intellects drove him to purse and achieve a college degree in 1981. Upon returning to Maryland, he welcomed his only son, Stephen. In 1985 he was afforded the opportunity to take his family and live abroad for 4 years.
After returning to the United States, Ted and his family settled in Pasadena, Maryland, where he lived for 20 years. Ted’s family continued to grow by welcoming son/daughter in-laws and 11
grandchildren. In 2004 he retired from federal service giving him more time to spend on his hobbies of bowling, golf, and running. Ted relocated to the warm of the south in 2009. For most of his life Ted took pleasure in spending time with family, enjoying good food and wine, sharing his love of music, history, and talking politics. He will be missed dearly.
Ted is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye Phillips; children, Melissa Thomas, Kristina Collins, Kimberley Woody, Stephen Phillips; sons and Daughter In-laws: Lee Thomas, Daryl Collins, Josh Woody, Shannon Phillips; grandchildren: Donovan Woody, Dilyn Collins, Allison Thomas, Gabrielle Collins, Kaylee Woody, Skyler Phillips, Emily Phillips, Gavin Thomas, Owen Collins, Sadie Phillips, Shelby Phillips.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father: Charles and Rose Phillips; brothers and sister: Charles Phillips Jr, Rosalie Bollier, Raymond Phillips.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Kutz’s Beach, 2070 Kutz Ave., Pasadena, MD 21122.
