Thomas George Savitz, 75, died January 31, 2020 peacefully and surrounded by his family at the LifeCare Hospice Center in Wilmington. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1944, he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Renee A. (Blose) Savitz. Throughout his life he devoted his time to serving others. He volunteered for many years as an EMT in Easton, Pennsylvania and served as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a mechanical engineer for over 30 years. Tom is survived by his children Alan Thomas Savitz (wife Mary Kay), Mary Beth Lind, Melinda Cheryl Whitehurst (husband Kevin), and George Andrew Savitz as well as 11 grandchildren: Zachery, Leslie-Grace (husband Alex), Skylar, Garrett, Mack, Abby, Bart, Katy, Emily, George Drake, and Lucy. He is also survived by his sisters Suzann Bright (husband Bob) and Judith Nikischer (husband Frank). Tom was the son of the late George and Evelyn (McNabb) Savitz. The family will accept visitors at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2020 with memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3554 North NC 111 903 Hwy, Albertson, NC 28508. There will be a separate service held in Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 8, 2020 @ 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 138 Rose Inn Ave, Nazareth, PA 18064. My thoughts and prayers go out to Renee and family. Tom will be missed by all those people who knew him. I will always remember being in their wedding as a bridesmaid and our memories of Sing Out Lehigh Valley. We had great times! Love you all!
Mr. Tom was an absolute pleasure to get to know. He made an impression on all of our therapists. He called us his “Godesses of pain” and signed that on our wall at his last session with us. I will always remember him! Prayers for your entire family and much love.
