William Crittenden
July 16, 1943 - January 20, 2024

William “Bill” Crittenden, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left this world on January 20, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on July 16, 1943, in Dinwiddie, VA, Bill’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered throughout his remarkable journey. With a career spanning several decades, Bill dedicated himself to the insurance
industry, excelling in both sales and claims capacities. However, his true passion lay in making lasting connections with others and making a difference in their lives. When he wasn’t working, Bill cherished spending time with his family. An avid NASCAR fan, he could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers. Exploring new places was another passion of his, as he loved camping and traveling, discovering the wonders America.

After retiring, Bill selflessly volunteered his time and energy for the Victory Junction Gang Camp, where he dedicated himself to helping children with chronic medical issues. It was a role that brought him immense joy until cancer made it impossible for him to continue. Undeterred, Bill found a new calling right next door to Victory Junction as a volunteer for Richard Petty, contributing his efforts to various events alongside a racing legend. Bill was also a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC. His unwavering faith served as a guiding light throughout his life, offering him strength, hope, and comfort. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Richard R. and Elsie W. Crittenden, as well as his brothers, John T. Crittenden and Archer B (AB) Crittenden. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lynne D. Crittenden, his brother Hugh H. Crittenden, and his daughters Robin C. Nance, Renee C. Zane and her husband Larry, Kristen N. Brugh and her husband Alex Wood, Laura B. Cloud and her husband Kevin, along with his grandchildren Megan, Zach, Claire, Carter, Hugo, Ava, and great-granddaughter, Madelyn.

A Celebration of Life to honor Bill’s remarkable journey will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 3 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 706 14th Ave. S., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Victory Junction Gang Camp at 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317, or a charity of your choice.

Bill Crittenden’s kind-hearted nature, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in our hearts. May his spirit inspire us to live each day
with a zest for life and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world, just as he did. Rest in peace, Mr. Bill.

Lynne, thinking of you and my brother’s loved ones at this time. I know it’s been hard on you caring for him. Thank you for looking after him. If there’s anything I can do, please don’t hestitate to ask. I really enjoyed the phone conversations I had with William over the past few years because we went so many years that we didn’t even talk. Not for any reason. Maybe someone reading this right now will pick up the phone to call their loved one. Oh, how I would have liked to have been there today. May he rest in peace.
